The blue of the Mediterranean sea, the orange of the morning sun, the white of the limed houses, are the colour of Nerja.

Between virgins creeks and impressive mountains you can find Nerja, the tourist capital of “La Axarquía”; a fascinating place in “La Costa del Sol”, in the east edge of the province of Málaga, 50 kms to the capital and one and half hour away from Granada.

Its kind climate allows you fully enjoy its pleasures all year around, breathing the calm of a place that still retains the taste of its Moorish past. In the same time Nerja gives you the best offer of accommodation and leisure of the area, with an unequalled quality.

There are 9 kms of beaches equipped with the best services, from the internationally known “Burriana”, awarded every year with the blue flag of the E.U., to the virgin bights of the Natural Park “Cliffs of Maro”. All these places have become the inspiration of many artists that have established  their residence here.

The nature lovers can enjoy its wonderful landscapes either in camping sites or on the grounds of the Biothematic Park. There is a lot to do for those who search alternative activities in their holidays: fishing, scuba-diving, water–skiing, canoeing, water-biking, nature-walking, mountain-biking, horse-riding, safaris in 4x4´s, hang gliding, with authorised services and fully guaranteed.

The old town centre, build from 1487, begins at “El Balcón de Europa”, un IX century castle, nowadays a mirador over the sea. The beach of “Calahonda” is the start of “El Paseo de los Carabineros”, a beautiful walk placed in a natural landscape of rocks bordering the coast till the beach of “Burriana”. To one side of “El Balcón de Europa” you can find the XVII century baroque-moorish style church of “El Salvador.

You can also visit the XVI century chapel of “Nuestra Señora de las Angustias”, with frescos by the famous artist Alonso Cano.

In the Old town, the small traditional shops offer all the craftwork and local products, like sweet wine, olive oil, honey and tropical fruits. At Nerja´s beach eating places and seafood restaurants you can try “el pescaíto frito” (small fried fishes) and there is also a wide variety of international restaurants that gives you the possibility to choose from a gastronomic universe

Nerja keeps alive all its traditions: Easter, the procession of San Isidro, San Juan or the festivity of Carmen. All of them are celebrated in a very special way.

Of all the cultural events, we point out the  “Festival de la Cueva de Nerja” (caves), which have been prized as an event of cultural interest. The performances take place among stalactites and stalagmites that have been growing for thousands of years and it is the 3thd monument most visited in Spain.
