Frigiliana is placed on the oriental end of the province of Malaga. Set in the middle of the Costa del Sol, with the wonderful beaches of Nerja just ten minutes away, and, at the same time, on the skirts of the Almijara mountain range. Frigiliana has a population of 2,500 inhabitants and has been awarded several times with beautification prizes, out of which we must point a First National Prize to the white villages of Spain and a First Regional Prize for beautification of villages |

One of the most usual and recommended visits is a walk along the old quarter, of Moorish-Mudejar style, where the visitor enjoys its quietness as well as the local history in images and old Castillian of the famous battle of “El Fuerte”, in which the Christians tried to spell the last Moorish for ever. |

Our most outstanding holidays take place at Easter, in which the “procession of loneliness” is the oldest and most beautiful. On May 3rd we celebrate the “Cross day” when the local house-wives decorate the streets with crosses made with flowers. There are popular dances and free tasting of our local wines and products made with sugar-cane honey. The only sugar-cane honey factory in Europe is in Frigiliana, set in the building that long ago used to be the palace of the Counts of Manrique de Lara. On St. Anthony’s day, June 13th, we celebrate the Saint Patron of the village, with a fun-fair and a morning procession to the river. During the summer there are music festivals and popular dances.. |
